The Disability Care in Umeå Municipality aims to be a resource that liberates and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through proximity and interaction.

At the group home in Tomtebo, residents with various disabilities live. The residents have their own apartments and share common areas. There is also a cat living in the facility, so you should not be allergic.

We are now looking for several new important team members!

Your Responsibilities

You will guide and support individuals with physical, mental, and intellectual disabilities in their daily lives. You work to make the individual participate in a functioning daily life and have a meaningful leisure time and/or occupation. The work includes both hygiene and care tasks as well as regular household chores such as cleaning, laundry, and cooking. Your working method is characterized by flexibility, continuity, and security. You offer individual, social, and practical support to enable and utilize the person's own abilities, thereby creating conditions for independence.

In your role, you will daily plan, implement, document, follow up, and evaluate the interventions both independently and in collaboration with others. This places high demands on your administrative skills and your ability to plan and structure the work. You also need to feel comfortable working with computers, as this is a natural part of the tasks. You are expected to create and maintain structure to reduce the risk of situations involving threats and violence while also being flexible, thinking on your feet, and handling unexpected situations.

In the initial phase, you will primarily work with one resident but will also work with other residents. Your work with individual residents will involve a lot of targeted work and require a very good sense of intuition. The work will include both activities outside the home and activities that you perform together at the home. Activities may vary between, for example, training, swimming, going to the movies, and playing games.

The working hours are scheduled for day/evening and weekend shifts every other weekend. Coordination with other activities occurs.

In the work, situations involving threats and violence may occur. Heavy lifting is included, and mobility aids should be used. Pets are present in the workplace, which means you should not be allergic to furry animals.

About You

You have a good ability to collaborate, and it is of utmost importance that you have a professional approach towards residents and other actors around our residents. You are pedagogical, engaged, and have a desire to share our values and work towards set goals as well as work with continuous improvements. You should be driven by a desire to see development and change and work accordingly.

You should have great patience and be able to work towards long-term goals without losing focus. To communicate with residents and their networks, write and participate in care documentation, and obtain medication delegation, you need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.

You need to communicate clearly and directly with the residents while also standing firm on decisions that have been made. Sometimes the pace can be high, so it is important that you can remain calm, manage stress well, and think quickly when needed. Personal suitability will be given great importance.

Requirements:

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent nursing assistant training at adult education level
• Driving license B

Meritorious:

• Care education, pedagogical education, or other education deemed relevant by the employer
• Previous experience in disability care
• Experience with low-arousal approaches in connection with threats and violence situations
• Experience working with individuals with autism
